Dex Car Park
Pilgrim Quarter will create an exciting development in the heart of the city centre. The site includes Dex Car Park, Bamburgh House, Commercial Union House and Carliol House – the former office of the North Easten Electric Supply Company.
To facilitate the redevelopment of the site and kick start the enabling works phase, MGL Demolition have recently demolished Dex Multi-storey Car Park. Work included asbestos removal and soft strip and work is now underway to demolish Commercial Union House.
On site the team are using modern demolition methods, adopting floor-by-floor technique with mini excavators to safely dismantling remaining the buildings. This will enable the remaining demolition to be executed using remote demolition with high reach excavators.
Due to its city centre location consideration was given to arrival and department times to reduce unnecessary movements during rush hour and to help reduce noise for nearby offices.
We are proud to work in partnership with the client to facilitate regeneration, the scheme will have a significant impact on the city centre and help to shape the future of Newcastle.
