As part of National Apprenticeship Week we exhibited at the virtual Tees Valley Careers Expo to inspire younger people to work in the construction industry. This year’s theme is ‘Build the Future’ reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career.
Our sector-based Construction Academy in partnership with Derwentside College is underway. We were delighted to meet with our group of unemployed learners, we held a careers session and we also organised a site visit to our Gateshead Multi-Storey Car Park project. The enthusiasm from the male and female potential employees was fantastic and we’re looking forward to progressing the programme.
We attended the Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council Jobs Fair at Grangetown United Community Hub. The return of face-to-face events meant we could meet with residents and potential applicants to discuss the job opportunities and apprenticeships we have in the area.
We are committed to developing the next generation of employees, to date we have supported 90 people through higher education learning routes. Our apprenticeships are a great opportunity to get on-the-job experience and a great qualification with support and encouragement from the team. We are educating, training and developing our people to be the best.
